Mike Kadela will read poetry from his book, 1 hundred hiccups, on April 19th at 7pm at The Book Cellar (located at 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave, 773-293-BOOK). He is currently a BA/MA student.

Matt LaPorte, MAE student and Assistant General Manager of Radio DePaul, is organizing a fundraiser for the station in April to purchase new equipment. There will be a table in the Student Center and SAC from April 10-21 from 11-2 PM to purchase raffle tickets. Prizes can be viewed at radio.depaul.edu, and the grand prize is a trip to London.

Shamontiel Vaughn recently self-published her first novel, Change for a Twenty, in paperback and hardcover format.

MAW student Carolyn Weaver has accepted a position as a grant writer for St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ. Carolyn will graduate in May.

The following MAW students presented papers at the Illinois Teachers of ESL and Bilingual Education Convention in Naperville (March 3-4, 2006): Anna Kendall (MAW), "Gender Awareness Through Language Learning Activities: Cultural, Conversational, Individual"; Tom Sura, "IM Writing: Using Instant Messaging Technology to Teach ESL"; Vanessa Barber, "One Classroom: Teaching ESL and NES Basic Writers Together."
