Professional Biography of Dennis L. Mumaugh

Dennis L. Mumaugh was a Member of the Technical Staff of Lucent Technologies.  He last  worked in the Optical Networking Group on the WaveStar Bandwidth Manager project. He was the architect of the Software Development Environment and supports the compiler tool set, the Object Oriented CASE tools and other related tools. He also worked on the team develping a method of patching a running system (function replacement) and also assists in development of parts of the BWM product.

Previously he was on the development team for Consumer Broadband Access in the Tools Group. He has  at AT&T Global Information Systems (NCR) as a Senior Principal Programmer/Analyst working on the development team for the Integrated System for Support Services (ISSS) and Solution Bank project. (Two systems for providing technical information to support analysts, field engineers and customers.)

Before that he worked in the Tier IV UNIX Software Support Group for the AT&T Computer Systems business unit. He had responsibilities for support of the ATT language offerings and monitoring the development of the System V Release 4.0 product as well as providing customer and post sales support of the UNIX product line including add-on products and languages.

He also worked at the National Security Agency where he was instrumental in introducing the UNIX Operating System to the Department of Defense in 1975. He has been involved in UNIX Software technology since, especially in the areas of Technology Transfer and Exploitation.

As a student he worked on co-operative engineering assignments at Livermore National Laboratories(LNL) and Berkeley National Laboraties(aka BRL) (both are managed by the University of California) and at Rocketdyne's Santa Susanna Test Facility.

He has interests in UNIX Security, Knowledge Engineering, Object Oriented Technology and Education, Personal Productivity Tools, Information Retrieval Systems and Wide Area Information Systems, the World-Wide Web, and computer technology for the future.

Mr. Mumaugh received a BSEE degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a member of the IEEE, the ACM and the USENIX Association.
