The DePaul Community Mental Health Center
received the 2005 Harry V. McNeill Memorial Award for Innovative Community Mental Health. The McNeill Award is
given to one program in the nation once every two years by the American Psychological Association's Division 27
(Society for Community Research and Action)in conjunction with the American Psychological Foundation. This
national award cited,"the trustees were impressed by the fine work of the Center. The organization stands as a
wonderful model for community development and action." The DePaul CMHC was compared with other organization on
three criteria:
1. Development of innovative practice in community mental health.
2. Evidence of stimulating participation in local community activities
3. Transfer of expertise to the community
