The World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 was a landmark event in the history of American architecture, marking the birth of the city planning movement in the United States. Dazzling all who came to see it, the Fair inspired hundreds of publications, as well as countless speeches, essays, and entries in historical accounts.
Unlike other sources, this videotape aims not at description or analysis, but at evoking the imagery and atmosphere of the Fair. Using lithographs, watercolors, photographs and drawings of the period, the author narrates a magical story of the event, from its construction to an imaginary visit. It allows the viewer to enter into the period and the atmosphere of this transforming event in American history.
