Biking and Politics
This class will use the bicycle to explore isssues of politics and social consciousness. We shall think about how consciousness is altered by the way a society seeks to address the universal problem of moving people. What are the political, social, and environmental implications of our overwheming commitment to the automobile in resolving the problem of popular movement? How do political structures promote or inhibit the development of alternatives? We begin this class, in the intensive week, with a series of bike rides and we will use these experiences to build reflections.
