Mapping the Road Ahead |
|
As we embark on the 2005-2006 school year, our office is seeking to improve our ability to provide quality legal counsel to our clients as quickly, economically and efficiently as possible. We need your feedback and participation to help guide our effort. Your participation will to help us anticipate major or sustained legal work and expenses. If we can anticipate and plan for this work, we can serve you better, quicker and cheaper, minimizing our need to play “catch up” on last minute projects.
Therefore, every six months, we will ask that you inform us of any major issues or projects in your area that might require extended legal assistance in the following six months. Examples of “major” issues or projects could include but not be limited to the following: creation or revision of academic programs that are subject to state and federal regulation; contracts or transactions greater than $500,000.00; matters that could lead to litigation or otherwise expose the university to significant risk; or proposed revisions to University policies or procedures. Please don’t hesitate to inform us of other matters not listed above that you suspect may give rise to significant legal work.
We would ask you to so inform us by filling out and returning the “FORECAST OF NEED FOR LEGAL SERVICES AND TRAINING FORM.” Click here to download the Form
This form also inquires about any legal training or background in which your college or department may be interested. We will try to provide that training as part of our Legal Affairs Education Program or through some other means available to us.
If at any time a major issue or training need arises, expected or unexpected, please share that information with us at that time. Our attorneys are attending their clients’ staff meetings, which will provide additional opportunities for you to inform us of any major work. Additionally, you may contact us by phone or e-mail. Please remember that we will serve you better if we have as much lead time as possible.
We appreciate your assistance and look forward to helping you meet your goals.
