Language tutors
The Department of Modern Languages encourages advanced language students in all languages to serve as tutors for beginning and intermediate-level students. Currently, tutors receive $7.50 per hour for their services. Tutors must be eligible for employment as student workers at DePaul. For details, contact Professor Yingcai Xu, Language Laboratory Director, by telephone (773.325.1886), email (xyingcai@depaul.edu), or in person (McGaw 315e).
Part-time positions
From time to time, the Department of Modern Languages seeks to hire part-time instructors in any of the languages that it currently teaches: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Classical Greek, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Applicants interested in consideration for future positions should send a letter of inquiry and complete curriculum vitae (resumé) to Mark D. Johnston, Chair, Department of Modern Languages, 802 West Belden, DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois 60618. For part-time positions, the Department prefers candidates with a MA or PhD degree and evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level. We particularly seek candidates who mirror the diversity of the university and its surrounding urban community, and we specifically solicit applications from women, people of color, and individuals from other historically under-represented groups.
