R.E.D.D., or Rnase-L Enzyme Dysfunction Disease, is based on research by Robert Suhadolnik. According to this theory,  a low molecular weight (LMW) 2'-5'A binding polypeptide (37kDa) is produced instead of the normal 80kDa protein.  It is possible that  LMW RnaseL functions as a strong binder for the RNA that the body produces to fight viruses - and in fact it binds the RNA out of the process altogether. The result is that the essential last stage in the body's antiviral defense pathway is missing. To find out more, look at the R.E.D.D. home page:

The CFIDS Association of America has released the first
public service announcement (PSA) on CFIDS for television,
featuring U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher. The PSA
emphasizes that CFS is a serious, complex disorder that can
affect people of all races and walks of life. Dr. Satcher
validates the illness, saying that "We may not know the cause
of [CFIDS], but the pain and suffering are real."
