ATTENTION HISTORY STUDENTS

History Major Requirements are Changing in 2008-2009

Will you be affected?

Have you formally declared history as your major or will you declare a history major before the end of Spring Quarter 2008?

If your answer is “No,” then you will proceed under the new plan.

If your answer is “Yes,” then your requirements will not change.

Please note, however, that some students who are not required to follow the new requirements may still want to transfer into that plan and can do so. Answer the following questions to determine if this makes sense for you:

Q: Have you taken HST 199?

If your answer is “Yes,” then transferring is not recommended as it would increase the number of courses required for you and duplicate some previous work .

If your answer is “No,” then go to the next question.

Q: Have you received credit for six or more 200-level history courses?

If your answer is “Yes,” then transferring is not recommended as you would not receive credit within the major for some of the credits you have already earned.

If your answer is “No,” then transferring to the new plan may be a good option for you. Please make an appointment with one of our new major transition advisors (listed on the reverse) to discuss it further.
