John Shanahan has two articles and a review appearing this spring. “Ben Jonson’s Alchemist and Early Modern Laboratory Space” will appear in the next issue of the Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies 8:1 (Spring/Summer 2008): 35-66. “From Drama to Science: Margaret Cavendish as Vanishing Mediator” has just appeared in Literature Compass 5 (March 2008): 362-375. A review of Margaret Cavendish’s play Bell in Campo performed at Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire, England, will appear in the summer issue of Shakespeare Bulletin. John recently presented a paper, “Dryden’s Self-Placement in the History of Science,” at the annual meeting of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies in Portland, Oregon.
