Welcome to the home page of the MSME, a joint program offered by the DePaul University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and School of Education. We are now recruiting for a new cohort scheduled to start June, 2010.
This new joint program has been designed collaboratively by faculty from DePaul University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and its School of Education in collaboration with teacher leaders from the Chicago Public Schools. The design includes innovative approaches and strategies that interweave:
· content and pedagogy throughout the participants’ experiences,
· the use of technology in the classroom, and
· investigation of research-based curricular materials supported by the Chicago Public Schools.
During their course of study teachers will have the opportunity to engage in action research and lesson study to implement ideas and knowledge acquired in the program directly to their classrooms. The program also offers teachers an opportunity to become active members in DePaul’s existing teacher learning communities.
The program consists of 12 required courses, which include all courses necessary for a middle school mathematics endorsement as well as the three-course CPS Algebra Initiative sequence. The courses address the appropriate Illinois Content Area Standards in Elementary Education. Click here for a schedule of classes and here for a description of the courses for the program.
This page will be updated as more information is available so check back often.

We are now accepting applications! We will continue to accept applications until the cohort is filled. Applications completed by May 24, 2010 will be considered in the first round of admissions decisions. Those applicants will be notified of our decision by the first week of June.
